Going from logo to vector is something every business needs sooner or later. The printer asks for an EPS, the sign maker wants an SVG, the embroidery shop needs separated colors, and all you have is a small PNG from an old website. The Vecfy logo vectorizer above turns that file into a clean vector logo in seconds, and you can zoom into every letter before paying anything.

This guide covers what a good vector logo looks like, how AI vectorizing compares with redrawing by hand, and how to prepare the file for printing, signage and the web.

Why you need a vector version of your logo

A raster logo (PNG, JPG) has a fixed number of pixels. A vector logo is described with curves, so it can be used anywhere:

  • Print: business cards, brochures and packaging need sharp edges at 300 dpi or more.
  • Large format: storefront signs, banners and vehicle wraps are many meters wide.
  • Production: embroidery, screen printing, vinyl cutting, laser engraving and promotional products need separated solid colors.
  • Digital: an SVG logo stays crisp on retina screens and loads fast on your website.
  • Brand updates: change a color or adjust spacing without redrawing anything.

Not every SVG is a good vector logo. A professional file has:

  • Exact brand colors, not twenty shades of almost-the-same blue.
  • Smooth curves with few nodes, so it is easy to edit and fast to cut.
  • Straight lines that are straight and circles that are round.
  • Text converted to outlines, so it looks the same on any computer, with or without the font.
  • No embedded images, only paths.
  • Logical layers, ideally one per color.

Vecfy outputs exactly that structure. The AI identifies the real palette of the logo, the tracer only uses those colors, and each color comes out as a named group you can recolor in one click.

For most logos, AI vectorizing gives a result that is ready to use. If your logo is extremely damaged, blurry beyond recognition or needs typography rebuilt with the original font, a designer is still the right call. You can try Vecfy first for free and decide after zooming in.

Logo to vector tips for a perfect result

  • Look for the best source. Check your website header, social profile images, invoices and old PDFs. A PDF often contains a larger version.
  • Prefer PNG over JPG. If you only have a JPG, our JPG to SVG guide explains how compression noise is handled.
  • Use Solid vector for gradients. Gold foil, chrome and glossy effects become flat colors that can be printed or stitched.
  • Tell the AI what matters. In Notes, write things like "keep only the icon", "the tagline is not needed" or "the dark blue is #1B2A4A".

SVG, EPS, AI and PDF: which vector logo format to send

Vecfy delivers SVG, the open vector standard (see the W3C SVG overview). It is the most widely compatible format and is accepted directly by most printers, sign makers and cutting software.

  • Printer asks for EPS or AI? Open the SVG in Illustrator, Inkscape or Affinity and use Save As or Export. The curves are identical.
  • Needs a PDF? Any vector app or even a browser print dialog can save the SVG as a vector PDF.
  • Website? Upload the SVG as is.

Building a small brand kit from your vector logo

Once your logo is a vector, it takes about ten minutes to create the set of files that covers 95% of requests from printers, partners and marketplaces. Open the SVG in Illustrator, Inkscape, Affinity or Figma and export:

  • Full-color SVG and PDF: the master files for print and web.
  • One-color black and one-color white: select all color layers and fill them with a single color. Needed for engraving, stamps, single-color merch and dark backgrounds.
  • Icon-only version: delete the wordmark layer for social media avatars and favicons.
  • PNG exports at 512, 1024 and 2048 px with transparent background for slides, documents and websites.
  • EPS: for older print and promotional product workflows.

Store them in a shared folder with your brand colors written down (HEX for web, CMYK for print, Pantone if you have one). Next time someone asks "do you have the vector?", you send a link instead of a panic message to your old designer.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between a logo and a vector logo?

A regular logo file is usually a PNG or JPG made of pixels. A vector logo is made of shapes and curves (SVG, EPS, AI, PDF), so it can be resized to any size and edited color by color.

Can I get my logo as EPS or AI?

Vecfy delivers SVG. Open it in Illustrator, Inkscape or Affinity and save as EPS, AI or PDF. The curves stay identical.

How long does it take to turn a logo into a vector?

About ten seconds with AI. A designer redraw usually takes one to five days.

How much does it cost to convert a logo to vector?

Vectorizing and previewing is free. Downloading the vector logo costs $3 per image, a one-time payment with no subscription. Designers typically charge $25 to $150 for a manual redraw.

Will my logo colors stay the same?

The AI detects the real colors of your logo and uses only those, so the vector matches the original closely. Each color is its own layer, so you can set exact brand values afterwards.

Can I convert a blurry or small logo to vector?

Often yes. The tracer straightens lines and smooths curves, which cleans up small or blurry logos. Extremely damaged logos may still need a designer to rebuild details.

Is the text in my logo editable?

Text is converted to outlines (shapes), which is the standard for logo files. You can recolor and resize it, but not retype it. To change wording, retype it with the original font in a design app.

Can I use the vector logo commercially?

Yes. The file is yours for any personal or commercial use, as long as you have the rights to the original logo.
